As many as 15 peacocks died on Saturday in Niravali village all off a sudden. Polluted water is supposed to be the cause of their death. On receipt of information, forest department officials reached the spot and took away the bodies of peacocks. The villagers of Niravali informed the police that bodies of the peacocks were found lying in the farms in the morning.
On receipt of information, the police and forest department officials reached the spot. The cause of the death is not immediately known, but the villagers said that a liquor factory located nearby was polluting the water of a rivulet from where the peacocks consumed water. This polluted water was probably the cause of the deaths. The Purani Chawani police said that action would be taken on the report of the forest department.
The forest department officials said that the cause of death would be known after postmortem report.
