A police sub inspector Damodar Prasad Gupta was shot dead in the Adim Jati Kalyan (AJK) police station premises.
Gupta was posted in the Kotwali police station. It is learnt that the accused had gone to exert pressure on DSP of AJK Rajesh Sharma to settle a case registered in the AJK police station against his son-in-law. In this process, the accused pointed his gun on DSP but since Damodar Gupta protested, he became victim.
According to information, a case was registered in AJK police station against Rajveer Tomar, son-in-law of head constable Hari Singh Jadon posted in AJK police station. Rajveer is absconding in the matter.
On Friday night, Rajveer Singh, Hari Singh Jadon, constable Dilip Khare, constable Narendra alias Tinku Sardar and another person approached DSP Rajesh Sharma to exert pressure that he should not favour the complainant and provide relief to Rajveer. But Rajesh Sharma refused to oblige them.
On this, Rajveer pointed his gun at DSP. At the same time sub inspector Damodar Prasad Gupta posted in Kotwali reached there and scolded Hari Singh Jadon for this. He also snatched the gun from Rajveer. Following this, Rajveer became defensive and tendered apology.
According to sources when Damodar Prasad Gupta returned after talking with DSP Rajesh Sharma and going on his motorcycle, the Rajveer was standing at civil line gate. Rajveer Singh fired shots at Gupta killing him on the spot. On hearing the news, SHO Kotwali Satish Dubey reached the spot and rushed Gupta to the hospital immediately where doctors declared him dead.
On receipt of information the IG Chambal SK Jha reached the spot and confirmed that a case of murder has been registered against five persons including two police personnel.
Late Damodar Gupta was a resident of Jawaharganj of Dabra. On receipt of information of his murder a pall of gloom descended on Dabra and his family members and friends were shocked. He was the only son of his parents and was appointed as police sub inspector in 1992.
