Acting tough on the authorities concerned in case of Meerut clashes, the State Government suspended the local DIG/SSP and issued marching orders to the district magistrate for their ‘callous’ approach while tackling the situation.
“Chief Minister Mayawati is not happy with the delay in handling the volatile situation by the senior officials in Meerut,” said Cabinet secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh while revealing the report of Special Director General (crime, law & order) Brij Lal here on Tuesday evening.
Singh said that Brij Lal, in his initial findings submitted to the State Government, appraised it that both Meerut District Magistrate, Subash Chandra Sharma and DIG/SSP Jai Narain Singh reached the spot late which worsened the situation and resulted in communal clashes in the district on Monday evening.
Singh added said that taking serious note of SDG’s findings, the Chief Minister ordered to shunt the DM out and suspend DIG/SSP Jai Narain Singh. He also informed the mediapersons that Mayawati had been giving regular warnings to the district incharges asking them not to make any compromise on law and order front.
