    Strike caused loss of Rs 26.5 cr to Air India

    Thiruvananthapuram : The ongoing strike by a section of pilots of the erstwhile Indian Airlines, which entered the third day today, had caused a loss of Rs 26.5 crore, according to Air India.Air India in an press official release said here only domestic services were hit because of the strike.

    Alliance Air, Air India Express and Air India wide body continued to maintain normal services today. The AIE operated two additional flights to Dubai and Sharjah to clear the rush, it said and added the domestic sector saw a further curtailment of flights by 126.

    About 39 flights were operated today. It was also decided to refuse fresh bookings for five days. The loss registered today stood at about Rs 12 crore.

    The operations of Alliance Air and Air India Express were normal yesterday and only a few of the Air India wide body operations were cancelled. A total of 96 flights were affected yesterday and the loss was estimated at Rs 10 crore.

    The loss due to the strike on day one was estimated at Rs 4.5 crore.
