Kochi: Causing hardships to passengers, particularly those bound for the West Asia the Indian Airlines cancelled all its 12 flights, including three to Gulf countries as the ongoing strike by a section of pilots of erstwhile Indian Airlines entered the sixth day today. With the cancellation of flights, the operations of domestic flights by the Indian Airlines from the three airports in the state were in complete disarray, forcing the passengers to depend on private airlines paying high fares.
However, the operations of Air India Express to the West Asia continued as scheduled, Air India sources told UNI.
The Indian Airlines cancelled its Kozhikode-Dubai, Kozhikode-Sharjah, Kochi-Sharja and Thiruvananthapuram-Sharja Flights today also, they added.
With the cancellation of two flights from the Kozhikode Airport more than 200 passengers bound for the West Asia were forced to postpone their travel.
Indian Airlines had cancelled five flights from Kochi, four from Thiruvananthapuram and three from Kozhikode, they informed.
Though the Air India operated special flights to Gulf destinations to clear the backlog of passengers in the first two days, due to non-avilability of aircraft and crew, they could not operate a single special flight during the past two days, the sources added.
