BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said the way leaders of the ruling UPA Government at the Centre were speaking in different voices on the killing of Osama bin Laden, there appeared no unanimity and seriousness in the Government over its fight against terrorism.
Talking to mediapersons, he said that the determination of the US to fight terror could be judged with the killing of Laden. For the past one decade the US never slackened its efforts to nail down Laden, whereas UPA leaders had failed to build pressure on Pakistan to handover elements behind the Mumbai attack.
Investigation by Indian and US intelligence agencies showed that Pakistan’s ISI was directly involved in this attack, he said, adding, “There are leaders in Congress party who had declared the Batla encounter as fake and visited Azamgarh to sympathise with the relatives of terrorists killed in this encounter.”
The BJP president said that Afzal Guru, mastermind behind the terrorist attack on Parliament, was yet to be executed even after awarding of death penalty by the country’s highest court. Gadkari said there would be no positive outcome of the India-Pakistan talks unless Islamabad showed its willingness to give up promoting terrorism.
“It was the Pakistan Government, its military and ISI which were protecting Laden all these years. It is unbelievable that the military was not aware about the stay of Laden in a house which is so close to the Military Academy”, he said.
Replying to a question he said terrorism had no colour or religion. “A terrorist is a terrorist, and the BJP condemns all kind of terrorism including green and saffron”, he added.
