    Aid for endosulfan affected children

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government has decided to give financial assistance to the endosulfan affected children. The decision for the special assistance was taken at today's cabinet meeting.

Briefing reporters after a cabinet meeting today, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said children of seventh standard would get Rs 1000 each, high school students Rs 2000 each and higher secondary students Rs 2500 each at the beginning of the academic year.

On the inquiry regarding the Pullumedu tragedy in which more than 100 Sabarimala pilgrims were killed, he said the cabinet decided to appoint retired High Court judge Harihran Nair to probe it.

The decision was taken as the High Court had expressed difficulty to spare the service of sitting judge for the inquiry.

He also said that e-tendering system would be implemented in Public Works department.
