London: Overlooked for captaincy, Kevin Pietersen has cast a doubt on the three-captain strategy adopted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).Pietersen, a former captain, was a possible contender for the Twenty20 captaincy but lost out to Stuart Broad as coach Andy Flower was not convinced about his appetite for top-level cricket. Andrew Strauss will lead the Test side and Alastair Cook will be in-charge of the ODI team.
Pietersen, however, said it will be really tough to work out the strategy.
'It's tough - really, really hard. There will be a lot of work the three are going to have to put in together, so it's going to be a hell of a mission getting on and doing it all together. It's going to be fascinating to see how it pans out. No one knows whether it's going to work now. We will have to see how it goes.
'But not being given the captaincy didn't bother me at all. I was in a pretty good head space to think I could do the job but it's interesting that we've got three captains, the first time it's ever been done. They're young and it means fresh ideas,' Pietersen was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.
'Andy Flower has made some very good decisions in the last couple of years and let's hope this is a good one as well,' he said.
