Kozhikode : Socialist Janata (Democratic) MLA-elect K P Mohanan is likely to get a Ministerial berth in the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) Government to be formed in Kerala soon. Mr Mohanan, elected from Kuthuparamba defeating his nearest Left Democratic Front (LDF) rival S A Puthiyavalappil (INL) in the April 13 Assembly Poll, said Party Chief M P Veerendra Kumar had offered a Ministerial berth to him.
His chance of getting the berth was certain in the wake of reluctance expressed by the only other MLA-elect M V Sreyams Kumar of the party to accept it.
Talking to a news channel, Mr Kumar had said he would not accept ministership enabling him to contribute all his time for his constituency, Kalpetta in the hilly district of Wayanad.
Meanwhile, SJD Chief and Former Union Minister M P Veerendra Kumar had said the party would take a decision on the issue tomorrow.
Efforts to form a coalition government in Kerala were on by constituents of the UDF, which got a slender majority winning as 72 seats against 68 by its arch rival CPI (M)-led Left Democratic Front in the 140-member State Assembly.
