Today the strength and prosperity of India and other countries which are included in the race of development, depends on education only, said noted littérateur and physician Dr Gyan Chaturvedi here on Sunday. He was addressing the 23rd Convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
Dr Chaturvedi said that we could achieve the targets by devising the educations and its affiliate system. “Now its established that there is a direct relation between the goals oriented education and development,” said Dr Chaturvedi.
The noted satirist further said that we could bring about a miracle by training the 125 crore Indians on the basis of their knowledge, understanding and liking. He claimed that education by guiding the capability and the energy makes the person productive.
Dr Chaturvedi claimed that the Indian society is going through a transition phase and it is the right opportunity, when things should be controlled and education be given a new direction. He said that the traditional universities have their limitations and these institutions cannot fulfill the educational requirements of the country. He further alleged that universities are facing a precarious situation and teaching and learning is seldom seen.
Dr Chaturvedi also pointed out that quality research is also hard to be seen and added that a proper option is required in such a scenario, which could connect everybody to education.
He said IGNOU has presented such a model before the world and added that this university is educating around 35 lakh students through distance mode. “Around 25,000 students are getting educated through the university in Madhya Pradesh,” said Dr Chaturvedi.
The university is spreading education through 200 centres and thousands of students are getting vocational options.
Dr Chaturvedi congratulated students who received degree certificates and urged them to use their all might to work for the nation. On the occasion, MP and CG regional director IGNOU KS Tiwari informed about the future planning of the university and also briefed about the activities to be undertaken in the next academic session.
Total 1844 students received degree certificates in the programme.
