Thiruvananthapuram : The South West Monsoon, which has been active over Kerala for the last one week, has claimed 25 lives till now besides causing heavy loss to standing crops and damage to houses and other properties across the state.The total loss to standing crops and damages to houses and other properties till today was estimated at Rs 13.26 crore, official sources told UNI.
Standing crops in about 1,801 hectare of land has been destroyed in the last 24 hours, which amounted to a loss of Rs 3.20 crore, they said. A total of 4,139 hectares have been destroyed till today, which amounted to Rs 12 crore.
About 12 houses were completely damaged and 160 houses partially destroyed in the rains, they said and added the loss stood at Rs 23 lakh.
