    Latest News from India - Policemen to be under scrutiny

    Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has taken a decision to monitor private activities of policemen in the state and to take stern action against policemen having mafia links in the wake of rising complaints against the police force. DGP Jacob Punnoose gave a direction to officers to monitor private activities of policemen. As part of their job, each policeman have to interact with the public. Many unwanted issues were reported recently in which policemen have played a part.

    All higher officers must scrutinize whether activities of officers below their rank are in any way tarnishing the image of police force. Higher officers must ensure if they are attending duties on time. Warning must be given to those policeman who booze in bars or in other public places, visit tainted men at their homes and have connections with the mafia world.

    Serious issues must be discussed with higher officials. Private activities of policemen from the post of constables to DySP will be verified. There is no mention of IPS officers in the watch list.
