Latest News from India - Happy Rajesh murder: Suspicion over statements of accused

Kollam: Suspicions are growing over statements given by the accused Vettukuttan and Penty in Happy Rajesh murder case, who was the prime accused in the attack on Mathrubhumi reporter VB Unnithan. Legal experts opined that if statements of Penty and Vettukuttan are given importance, the main accused Vettukuttan and Penty would not be getting serious punishment.When accused from 2 to 4 were arrested in the attack case, the crime branch believed that the first accused Rajesh was murdered to cover up the conspiracy. But as per the statements of Penty and Vettukuttan, who were held in connection with Rajesh's murder, they beat him up for burning Penty's car. Another statement was that Rajesh used Anand, a member of Kuttan's gang for carrying out other quotation works. Police stated that this is not for the first time that Anand is working for quotations. Moreover, there was no evidence to prove that Rajesh set fire to Penty's car.

There have been doubts over the statement given by them in beating Rajesh. Penty and Vettukuttan said they started the attack which was taken over by their helpers later. Rajesh was killed during their attack. Police suspect it as an attempt to prove that main accused Penty and Vettukuttan do not have role in this murder. They had never stated that they conspired to kill him but only injure him and three persons were entrusted with the job. Police suspect that all these were to prove that the murder of Rajesh has no connection with Unnithan attack.
