Elephant runs amok in Tripunithara, falls into river, rescued
Kochi: An elephant which ran amok at Peta in Tripunithara fell into a river and was later rescued by the police, locals and forest officials. The elephant created a scare in the city on Saturday morning and ran towards a river. It then swam to about 3 kms and reached Chambakara. The elephant created a scare for more than 3 hours and it was the same elephant which had killed a mahout some days back. The elephant which was being taken to the shores was calm, according to locals.The elephant Ravipuram Govindan was rescued by a police team led by Tripunithara SI. Locals who had assembled near the spot to have a look were evacuated before rescuing the elephant.
