Kochi: CPM local leader surrendered in the Paravoor sexual exploitation case on Tuesday. K M Eldho, Puthncruz local committee member, surrendered before the crime branch. Eldho has been working in the Cochin refinery. Police seized his car the other day. It is learnt that Eldho sexually exploited the girl along with Mazhuvanoor CPM local committee former secretary Cherunellad Pulparampil Thomas Varghese and Swaraj from Irapuram Erankulam, who were held on Friday. Crime branch team led by SP has been questioning Eldho. The girl was forced into prostitution and was sexually exploited by over 65 persons for the last two years. 39 persons have been arrested so far. But it is learnt that as many as 100 persons are involved in the case. The parents of the 15-year-old girl were arrested a couple of days ago in this connection.
There are reports that even some Tamil Nadu police officials are involved in the case. The Crime Branch is presently investigating the case. Many more arrests are likely to take place soon.
Thomas Varghese, an accused, was remanded to custody till July 8th. Varghese was apprehended by a probe team led by S. Surendran, Superintendent of Police near Kolenchery, on Friday.
The girl was sexually exploited outside Kerala too in Chennai, Bangalore and Coimbatore. The incident came to light when the girl escaped from Coimbatore, where she was taken recently, and narrated the developments to a relative who lodged a complaint with the police and a case registered
