A workshop of Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) on UID Number of Food Coupon Scheme was held at the auditorium of Academy of Administration on Monday. The objective of the workshop was to seek cooperation of non-government organisations for motivating people to obtain Aadhar Number and implementation of Food Coupon Scheme in a systematic manner.
Addressing the workshop, Commissioner, Food and Civil Supplies Ajit Kesri said that the Food Coupon Scheme is being implemented with the objective of providing citizens commodities through public distribution in time and in fixed quantities. He said that the main objective of the State Government will be establishment of people's trust in strengthened food grains' distribution system.
Kesri said that ineligible persons (families) will be removed under UID-based Food Coupon Scheme and only eligible persons will get food grains. No person or family will be able to get ration cards issued in their names. He informed that after implementation of the scheme it will also be easier for the consumers to get their ration cards transferred to other cities. The workshop also discussed the proposed National Food Security Act.
