    New born found on rail track in Palakkad

    Palakkad: A baby girl who was born in the train toilet was found laying on the tracks. The baby is now admitted at Palakkad district hospital and except a mild injury, the baby is fine. Later, police held a woman suspected to be her mother from Shoranur station. The new born was spotted on the track after the Palakkad-Nilambur passenger took off from Olavakkod station at 6.30 am. Platform employee Velayudhan spotted the baby with the umbilical cord. The railway police shifted the baby to a hospital.
    The railway police conducted a search among ther passengers who alighted at the Shoranur junction. They found a woman bleeding under suspicious condition. Though she was brought to Olavakkod, her statements lacks clarity. Later she was also admitted to a private hospital. Railway police said doctors confirmed that only hours passed since the lady gave birth.
