Latest News from India - Passport printing doubles as new printers arrive

Kozhikode: Passport applications are being pursued at the Kozhikode passport office in record speed, thanks to the new passport printing machines. New passports were issued to 61,532 applicants during the last three months. Now there are a total of four machines and employees also became active which paved way for such a speedy work. 61, 532 passports were distributed from last April to June. During January to March, only 34,680 passports were issued. Earlier, Mathrubhumi had reported about pending applications due to absence of printers and due to that job aspirants were losing jobs. Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan brought the matter to the attention of union minister E Ahmed and three new printing machines were allotted.
