Maharashtra DGP Ajit Parasnis on Sunday ordered a CID inquiry into the death of Faiz Usmani, who died in a civic-run hospital after being questioned by police in connection with the terror blasts in Mumbai.
“A CID inquiry has been ordered into the death of Usmani by the DGP. The state CID will look into various things that resulted into his death,” Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Rajnish Seth told PTI.
Usmani, brother of 2008 Ahmedabad blast accused Afzal Usmani, died at 1.30 am, while he was undergoing treatment for hemiparesis and hypertension in the Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion in central Mumbai, doctors said.
Usmani, a resident of suburban Govandi, was called for questioning by Chembur’s Crime Branch unit on Saturday and admitted in the hospital at 5.50 pm, after he complained of health problems.
