Kochi : The Crime Branch, investigating of the sensational Pravoor sex racket, today arrested a police official, involved in the incident from Thrissur. The official was identified as Padmakumar, ASI, attached to the Kerala Armed Police battalion (I) at Thrissur.
Notably, the Ernakulam Principle Sessions Court had asked the investigation officials why they failed to arrest the police official involved in the sexual harassment of a minor girl and castigated the failure of the investigation officials.
It was alleged that the police official, along with Dr Hari and Aziz, had sexually harassed the girl at a tourist home in Ernakulam.
The vital information about the trio was obtained by police from the middle aged woman, Subaida, who is in police custody. The woman said she was responsible for handing over the girl to the accused in the case.
Though the police had decided to issue a look out notice against Dr Hari and Aziz, who were in Gulf countries, it was abandoned on information that Hari would surrender before the police.
Police received the information about Padmakumar from Hari.
Meanwhile, a Tamil Nadu police official Sakthivel moved Kerala High Court for anticipatory bail.
