New Delhi : The Ministry Of Rural Development has assured full cooperation to Kerala Government in the implementation of rural employment, road connectivity and housing schemes in the state.This assurance was given by Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh to the Kerala Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy who called on him at Krishi Bhawan here on Wednesday.
The visiting Chief Minister sought the cooperation of the ministry in fast tracking the financial support for the construction rural roads in Kerala sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Ramesh said that the proposal would be examined by the Ministry.
Chandy led delegation also made a request to include additional activities such as dairy farming, livelihood, houses, toilets etc. in the ambit of works permissible under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA.
The Rural Development Minister told Kerala CM that convergence has already been made under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, IAY and TSC towards this end.
The Kerala Chief Minister was accompanied by a high level delegation including the State Rural Development Minister K.C.Joseph, Agriculture Minister K.P.Mohan, Minister of Ports K.Babu and Director of Janashree Mission M.M.Hassan.
