Latest News from India - Swami Sakranantha passes away

Thiruvananthapuram: Swami Sakranantha, who acted as the president of Sasthamangalam, Purannattuakara ashrams under Sreeramakrishnashramam, passed away here on Friday. He was 87. The interment procedures would take place at Ashramam in Nettayam on Saturday morning.

He was born as the son of Narayana Pillai and Gowrikutty Amma on January 21, 1924. He began his spiritual life in Kaladi ashramam in 1942 and was later shifted to Ramakrishnashramam in Chennai. He accepted `Manthradeeksha' from Swami Virajanantha in Vishakpattanam. He accepted `Sanyasam' in 1952 from Sankaranandaswami at Beloor ,Kolkatha . In 1973 he became the president of Ramkrishnashramam. From 1987 to 1998 he acted as the president of Sasthamangalam ashram. He was ailing for the last two years.
