Latest News from India - Devotees experience TDB's faulty arrangements

Thiruvananthapuram :Though water tanks have been provided for devotees in connection with the 'Vavu Bali' at Thiruvallam Parasurama temple here as part of special arrangements by the TDB, most of the water taps are not working.Due to heavy rush, the devotees were forced to stand in queues for more than six hours as the lines extend up to three-four kms outside the main temple here.

According to various social organisations here, thousands of devotees face difficulty due to pollutted water in Karamana river flowing by the side of the temple, shortage of water and mal-functioning of taps.

They also urged TDB to maintain a proper queue system inside the sanctum sanctorum to avoid heated arguments and to maintain decorum at the sacred place, as the TDB arranged a Special queue system for them and another for VIPs and their families.

Though the TDB claimed that Tanks have been installed to store water and a stretch of the Karamana river was desilted, people who came for a dip after offering 'bali' face difficulty due to contaminated water in the river and mal-functioing of water taps.

Though the TDB authorities earlier claimed that a check dam was also constructed for the pilgrims to take a dip after offering bali, the water was highly pollutted, they alleged.
