Cameras to be installed on National Highways
Kochi: The Motor Vehicle Department is planning to install cameras in National Highway 47 in the wake of increasing number of accidents. At first the camera would be installed on trial basis in NH 47 from Cherthala to Mannuthi in Thrissur. As many as 50 cameras would be installed and depending on the success rate, it would be implemented statewide.The scene capture would be monitored at the control room in Ernakulam and Thrissur deputy transport commissioner office. The print out of rules violation would be available soon. And the same would be handed over to RTO office and from there notice would be sent to the vehicle owner. In accident-prone areas called `black spots' there would be a camera to monitor the speed of vehicles.
