Milk to be imported from other states for Onam
Kozhikode: To solve milk scarcity in Malabar region during Onam season, Milma would import thousands of litres of milk per day from Karnataka, Andhra and Maharashtra. In Malabar region, usually 4.15 lakh litres would be needed, out of which 3.80 lakh litres would be collected from milk farmers. During onam season the contribution from milk farmers too declines. Though milma raised milk prices, it has not affected sales due to the season. Milma will import 45,000 litres from Thumkoor dairy in Karnataka, 30,000 litres from Kolar dairy, 30,000 litres from Palamneer dairy, 15,000 litres from Namakkal, Tamil Nadu and 15,000 litres from Maharashtra.
