The Justice MR Hariharan Nair Commission probing the January 14 stampede at Pullumedu in Kerala’s Idukki district in which 102 Sabarimala pilgrims were killed submitted its interim report to the Government on Monday.
The Government had asked the commission to submit the report before the start of the next annual pilgrimage season (starting November 16) at Sabarimala. The panel has mentioned in the report 30 steps to be taken during the pilgrimage season for the security of and amenities for the pilgrims.
Devaswom Minister VS Sivakumar said the Cabinet would adopt necessary measures at Sabarimala after discussing the report at its meeting on Tuesday. The next sitting of the commission would be held on September 30.
