Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said the Government has decided to brand the State as 'Emerging Kerala' to make it the Investors' Own Destination.Releasing the Logo of the Emerging Kerala-2012, Mr Chandy said Kerala is all set for a major makeover exercise to position itself as an attractive investment destination.
The objective of 'Emerging Kerala' is to position the state as an Investor-friendly destination and to transform into a major business hub of South India. Government intends to develop a Business Development Framework, which will enable such a transformation, he added.
As part of this brand-building exercise, the Government has announced the conduct of a biennial Mega Investor Meet in the State, under the new brand name - 'Emerging Kerala'.
The first such Event, 'Emerging Kerala 2012' is scheduled from April 19 to 21, at the Le Meridien Convention Centre, Kochi.
The State has put in place various Committees for the effective implementation of various programs and activities planned in this regard. A High Power Committee chaired by the Chief Minister has been constituted to monitor and review the progress of the campaign. The Council of Ministers and Govt Secretaries are members of this Committee.
Besides, Project Committees headed by Ministers are being formed for finalising policies and projects, identifying priority areas, preparing project profiles, initiating discussions with prospective entrepreneurs with respect to each Department. The Project Committees will be responsible for follow up and implementation of the projects finalized as part of 'Emerging Kerala'.
