Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister today asked Director of Medical Education Dr Geeta to submit a comprehensive report on how to strengthen the Critical Care System in the Government Medical Colleges in the State.Chairing a meeting of Medical College Principals and Superintendents here, he said Government's aim was to provide maximum facilities for saving lives in hospitals.
The demand for installation of more ICUs and ventilators would be considered seriously. The DME has also been asked to study the possibility of bringing the ICUs and ventilators under a new department called Critical Care Medicine instead of the present system of maintaining these facilities under various departments.
Crash cart- a modern system to attend critical patients will be introduced in medical colleges. The Government is also examining the possibility of giving more freedom to hospital superintendents in the expenditure of funds they receive under the RSVY.
It has also been decided to appoint Public Relations Officers in all the five medical colleges and the installation of cctv cameras in the casualty area is also under consideration, he added.
