Ending the 2-week long wait of Shariq Bhat’s family members, one of the 3 youth arrested from Kishtwar in connection with the Delhi High Court blast case, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday restored his custody to his parents.
Official sources said, “A Class XI student, Shariq Bhat, was set free by the investigators probing the links of Delhi High Court blast late Friday evening.”
Police authorities were facing constant pressure from the local residents to release the arrested youth and avoid undue harassment. Shariq was earlier picked up for questioning from his house in Kishtwar on September 10.
The investigators questioned him along with two other suspected youth — Abid Hussain and Aamir Abbas Dev — over their suspected role behind sending and drafting the terror mail to media houses from a cyber cafe located in Malik market of Kishtwar. The two other accused have been shifted by the National Investigation Agency to New Delhi to further carry out the blast case probe and have already been remanded to police custody till October 5.
