    Latest News from India - Security audit to be introduced in Kerala: Min

    Kochi : Kerala Labour Minister Shibu Baby John today said that the government would introduce security audit to ensure security of the casual labourers in work place, particularly in construction sector.Talking to newspersons after reviewing security measures in construction sector, he said the government had noted various complaints about the problems and difficulties faced by the workers in the sector.

    Pointing out that thousands of workers from other states were working in construction sector in the state, Mr John said there were only 500 workers from other states registered in the state when the current Congress-led UDF Government came to power.

    However, during the past three months after the UDF Government rule, as many as 15000 workers had registered and many more steps were taken for the welfare of the workers, he added.

    Stating that the construction sector in the state had become an important industry, the minister stressed on the need for timely changes in the employment and security areas.

    As part of this, the government was proposing to introduce security manual and inspection chart in three months, he added.
