Kollam: The CPI(M)-led Left parties called for a hartal this afternoon at Pathanapuram, the constituency of Kerala Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar, in Kollam district. Police today said the hartal was in protest against the murder attempt on a school teacher of RVHS School at Valakam in Kottarakkara.
The attacked teacher, Krishnakumar was employed in RVHS school owned by the family of Kerala Congress (B) leader R Balakrishna Pillai, father of Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar.
The agitators alleged that Mr Balakrishna Pillai and his son hired quotation gangs for the crime.
They demanded the resignation of the Minister for impartial inquiry into the incident.
The teacher is now admitted at the Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram. His condition is said to be serious.
