    Palakkad: The relatives of Raghu, 40, from Peruvampu, Palakkad, who was brutally beaten to death by some men alleging that he had stolen a bag containing Rs 10,000 while traveling in the Thrissur- Chadayamangalam KSRTC bus, said that the money was Raghu's own. They said he had the money which he got from Perumvambu service cooperative bank after pledging his gold ring. The person who helped him to pledge the gold too endorsed the same. Raghu was beaten to death alleging that he had stolen the money. His brother Raju said Raghu took the money to help his wife's relatives in Thoothukudy. Raghu's sister in law is staying in Kollam and she asked Raghu to bring money to Perumbavoor and she said she would collect the money from there and will give it to relatives in Thoothukudy .

    For this Raghu went with the money.Balan, 65 from Peruvambu pledged gold for Raghu and this for the second time that he is doing the same for Raghu. Perumvambu service cooperative bank secretary Sasikala said that Balan pledged ring with 12.300-gram weight and was given Rs 19,000.

    Raghu was an employee of a plastic moulding company in Karattupally, Perumbavoor. Following the brutal assault, Raghu collapsed and died on the spot.
