Pioneer Hindi: Winning hearts in the heartland

The Pioneer forayed into Hindi journalism exactly one year ago. In a market hopelessly overcrowded , with reader tastes disoriented by the crass commercialism of some of the market leaders, many were sceptical about the future of ethical journalism that has been The Pioneer Group’s creed since the paper first launched in 1864. But a year later, readers’ affection and advertisers’ support has enabled the Hindi Pioneer not only to survive but also prosper.

The Pioneer has had a strong affiliation with UP from the time when it was not even known as Uttar Pradesh but as United Provinces of Agra and Oudh. It launched in Allahabad, the intellectual Capital of the province, before moving to Lucknow in 1941 and eventually came to be headquartered in Delhi 20 years ago. When CMYK Printech took over the management of the Group in 1998, we were determined to restore The Pioneer’s UP connection. Happily, therefore, we returned to a UP-based publication last year and the recall value of the Pioneer brand name made our Hindi offering an instant success.

In the coming years, we hope to expand our Hindi footprint to other States including Delhi. We will always retain a deep commitment to UP while promoting value-based Hindi journalism. We will continue to provide a platform to the country’s Hindi-speaking intelligentsia which is deeply rooted in ground realities. The Hindi Pioneer has already won accolades for combining modern media trends with technical excellence and thus provides opinion leadership similar to its English counterpart.

With your committed support we believe Hindi Pioneer’s readership and revenues can only grow in the future. We seek the blessings and support of our countless readers and patrons to fast track our Hindi publication. As the country’s only mainstream media house owned and operated by journalists, we believe The Pioneer Group has a unique place in Indian journalism. The bond between The Pioneer and its readers, we hope, will grow stronger with the Hindi paper making robust strides in the coming year and thereafter. The Pioneer Group takes this opportunity to thank all who have stood by us all these years. We are confident we shall never betray your faith in us.
