    AYOS holds five-day yoga awareness meet at Raj Bhavan

    The Swami Vivekananda District Yoga Wellness Centre, run by the Academy of Yoga and Oriental Studies (AYOS) in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Government of India, has started a five-day yoga awareness workshop at the Community Centre (Club House) of the Raj Bhavan here from October 26.

    The programme was inaugurated by the State's Director of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy Mahendra Kumar Mallick Offering of flower at the feet of a picture of Maharshi Patanjali and recitation of Vedic Mangalacharana marked the beginning of the inauguration. Comptroller of Raj Bhavan Saumya Narayan Panigrahi extended welcomed the guests and participants.

    Mallick said yoga is an effective system of treatment, in which no expenses are involved. It is invented by the great sages of India. Illustrious guest Swami Sivachidananda Saraswati, in his speech, said yoga takes a man to a higher state of consciousness. Special Secretary to Governor, Surendra Prasad Mishra, presided over the meeting.

    AYOS Director Dr Indulata Das said that everyday the programme would start at 6 am and continue up to 9 am, in which there would be one session of yogic practice and two speeches based various topics related to yoga and allied subjects. Reputed and competent scholars have been invited to deliver talks. There would be at least four such programmes in a year, each at an interval of three months. People are invited to join the programmes in large numbers and be benefited, she added.

    Research Office, Department of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy Dr Narendra Prasad Hota proposed a vote of thanks.
