Continuing apparently with a cold atmosphere consecutively for three days without a single candidate turning up to file nomination for the upcoming poll to the Kendrapada Municipality scheduled to be held on November 15, and keeping poll officials on their toes, there was sort of hustle-bustle in the municipal campus on Friday as 17 candidates, one after another, marched to the venue with their supporters chanting slogans and filed their nominations.
With only one day left, the number of nominations on Saturday is expected to touch the hundred mark or even may go beyond as minimum 80 aspirants from various parties and Independents are yet to submit their papers.
Till date, as many as 96 aspirants have obtained nomination forms from the Election Officer, said Pratap Kumar Mishra, Sub-Collector-cum-Election Officer. The Friday hopefuls included seven Congress candidates and six BJP candidates who filed nominations on party tickets. There were also four others who filed papers without anyparty ticket.
