Chargesheeted tax evader-cum-scamster Hasan Ali Khan, who is being tried for a multi-thousand crore money laundering case, suffered a paralytic stroke at the Arthur Road jail, where he is currently lodged.
Lawyer IP Bagaria told The Pioneer his client had suffered a stroke on Thursday night but he learnt about it only on Saturday morning “when I had gone to jail to get the signature of my client on a review petition challenging the rejection of his bail, that we plan to file in the Supreme Court on Monday”.
According to Bagaria, Hasan Ali can’t move his right hand and right leg. “Despite clear instructions from the court, jail authorities did not admit my client to the hospital after he suffered a stroke. The doctors at the jail merely gave him an injection,” he claimed.
“My client suffers from multiple ailments. Ever since he was lodged at Arthur Road jail, the authorities are not giving him proper treatment,” Bagaria added.
Bagaria said that in the review petition (to be filed on Monday) challenging the Supreme Court’s September 30 order quashing the bail granted to Hasan Ali the Bombay High Court in a money laundering case, he would bring to the notice of the apex court the jail administration’s apathy towards his client’s deteriorating health.
