Banaras Hindu University vice-chancellor Dr Lalji Singh said on Monday that he has a plan for providing helicopter facility at Sir Sunderlal Hospital to help out patients who need immediate treatment for trauma.
Singh said that in case of an accident the patient needs immediate treatment but does not get it on time due to traffic and other problems. So he is considering providing a helicopter facility at the under-construction trauma centre in the hospital. He even has plans of getting a helipad constructed here.
Efforts will be made to upgrade the hospital on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Singh said during a formal interaction with reporters at the meeting hall of the central office of the university. On his plans of building a cafeteria with a capacity of 5,000 on the university campus, Singh said it would help students and teachers of various departments and institutes of the University gather at one place and share notes and ideas.
“We are in the 21st century in which technology is leading to scientific development. A change of mindset is needed to benefit from this,” Singh said.
