Badal demands immediate rollback of petrol hike
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday slammed the Congress-led UPA Government at Centre over what he described as “a crushing and totally unjustified hike of Rs 1.82 per litre in the price of petrol”.
In a statement here, Badal said that the hike would unleash fresh inflationary impact to further jack up prices of essential commodities and deal a back-breaking blow to the common man. He demanded an immediate rollback of the unbearable hike - sixth such increase over the last one year.
The hike, he said, would retard the pace of economic growth which is already in rough weather. The CM said that petrol price in India was already amongst the highest in the world despite alarming poverty amongst the masses.
He lamented that inflation had already touched double digit and was beyond the control of the UPA Government despite tall claims that measures were in place to check price rise. The CM slammed those measures for being completely ineffective.
