BJP raps Rahul for comments on poor in UP
BJP on Tuesday attacked congress general Secretary Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the poor in Uttar Pradesh, saying he should know the difference between hard work and begging and attributed poverty in the State to “50 years of misrule by his party”.
“It is really sad that Rahul Gandhi does not know the difference between hard labour and begging. People from Uttar Pradesh who migrated to places like Maldives and Fiji had started out as labourers but are now running those countries,” BJP leader Uma Bharati told reporters here.
She insisted that people of Uttar Pradesh do not beg and Gandhi’s comments should be condemned. BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said Gandhi should introspect and ask himself why the youth of rural India, especially from UP and Bihar need to migrate to other States.
“We strongly condemn this insulting statement of Rahul Gandhi.... The economic policies pursued by the Congress have deprived the youth of this country of their right to work. UP and Bihar were ruled by Congress and their supporting parties for more than fifty years. The Congress is responsible for keeping UP and Bihar backward,” Javadekar said.
