    Accused surrenders at Pune court

    Accused surrenders at Pune court

Anushree Kundra, a software professional who allegedly set her ex-lover and his fiancée on fire on October 13 and has been on the run ever since, surrendered before the Pune district court on Tuesday after she ran out of four-day anticipatory bail granted to her by the Delhi High Court.

Kundra had allegedly set ablaze her ex-lover Nimesh Sinha and his fiancée Juhi Prasad, a Delhi-based lawyer, at their flat in Viman Nagar in the wee hours of October 13. While Sinha escaped with 10 per cent burns, Juhi succumbed to her injuries after sustaining 98 per cent burns.

Before her death, Juhi allegedly told the police that Anushree was responsible, but the girl's distraught parents did not accept the theory and seemed to be convinced that Nimesh was responsible somehow.

Following her appearance before the court, the Pune Cantonment court charged Kundra under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The court remanded her to police custody till 17 November.
