Two arrested for rape in Mehrauli
Two persons were arrested for allegedly raping a medical student by South Delhi police in Mehrauli area in south Delhi. Police have identified the accused as Balwant Singh and Mahesh alias Mintu. The victim, aged 28, was pursing a diploma in DNA analysis from a reputed institute.
The incident took place on November 18 when the victim was on her way to a nearby medicine shop. The victim had noted down the accused’s car registration number that helped police solve the case. “A case of rape was registered in Mehrauli PS on November 18. Police have arrested the accused persons on Monday,” said a senior police official.
“The victim was going to a nearby market in Mehrauli to buy medical equipment, when a car stopped near her and the accused, on the pretext of asking about an address, dragged her inside. After forcing her to inhale an unknown substance which made her unconscious, they took her to an isolated place and raped her,” he added.
