25-yr-old arrested for killing landlord’s kids

A 25-year-old youth from Bihar was arrested for allegedly strangling his landlord’s two children to death. In a case which can very well be described as cold blooded murder, Ashok killed his landlord's children after they asked him to vacate the house.

The incident took place on August 29. The accused in the case, identified as Ashok Gupta, was nabbed from Gaya on Saturday. He is a resident of Shiv Garh village in Patna district. He was arrested from Gaya, while he was trying to board a train.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Northwest, Meenu Choudhary said the accused strangled Suraj (8) and Gopal (6) to death. Both of them were his landlord Raja Ram's sons. They were found in an unconscious state in the tenant's room on August 29. They were taken to the hospital later where they were declared brought dead by the doctors.

During investigations, Ram's wife Phool Kumari told police that she left her children at their tuition classes before going to market on August 29. When she came back, her children were missing from the house. When she inquired her tenant, Ashok, about her children, he told her that they are playing outside. Later, Phool Kumari's elder daughter saw them lying in Ashok's house. Ashok was at large after the incident and it was only months of search that he was finally nabbed on Saturday.

During interrogation, Ashok confessed his involvement in the murder and said he was addicted to liquor due to which he was unable to work hard as a labourer. On Aug 29, he asked his landlord to give him `500 but he refused and asked him to vacate his room due to which an altercation took place between them. Ashok threatened his landlord with dire consequences. Then, he murdered Suraj. As Gopal came there and saw him committing the crime Ashok killed him too out of the fear of being arrested, the police official said. Ashok is a liquor addict and had broken all connections with his family. After committing the crime, he ran away from his rented accommodation. He was arrested from Gaya on a tip-off.
