BSP plans to hold massive rally on Nov 27

In a reply to Opposition campaign against State Government in form of yatras and rallies the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) plans to show its might through a rally on November 27 in which over 5 lakh party workers are expected to take part.

“This is likely to the biggest rally before assembly elections. Through this rally Chief Minister Mayawati would show her political prowess and showcase the achievements of the Government,” a senior BSP leader told The Pioneer on Friday.

This rally is important for BSP as Mayawati, who is also national president of the party, had held a series of meetings with party legislators and MPs over preparation of this rally. She had asked each legislator and party candidate to bring at least 2000 workers from each assembly constituency.

“Though the target is to bring 8 lakh workers, we expect not less than 5 lakh people on that day,” the BSP leader said and added: “I can assure that people of Lucknow have not seen rally of this magnitude before.”

In the political circle this rally is seen as an answer to Rahul Gandhi’s Jan Sampark yatra where he had criticised the State Government for its poor implementation of job guarantee scheme of NREGA. Time and again Congress national general secretary had claimed that BSP has lost favours with the masses.

“The rally will prove who is the real leader who can connect with masses. The Chief Minister would also give reply of Rahul Gandhi’s all charges in that rally,” he said.

The Opposition parties have already started calling this rally as Government sponsored show of strength. BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said the Government officials have been asked to arrange buses and ferry workers to rally site. “The Chief Minister will misuse the official machinery in the name of rally. The rally will not show BSP’s strength but it would be Government’s show of strength,” he said.
