The exceptionally hyped by-election for Umerkote (ST) Assembly constituency of Odisha’s Maoist-affected Nabarangpur district took place on Wednesday.
The election witnessed an extra-ordinary turnout of voters at the polling booths, registering, on an average, 71 per cent voting despite ‘Maoist threats’. Counting of votes will be held on Sunday at the women’s college, Nabarangpur.
