‘Peace in Valley conducive to development’
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir Valley imparted positive effect on economic welfare measures initiated by the his Government this year. “While we were able to hold successful Panchayat elections and subsequent transfer of powers to these democratic institutions to empower people and help holistic and area specific progress, the fruits of development programmes reached to the people across the State”, he said while addressing a public meeting in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad area. He said peace with development was the top priority of his Government. “The Government is determined to ensure that peace dividends reach to people in all fields of life and they are actively involved in the process of development and political stability”, he said.
“My Government has taken various measures on law and order front to inculcate sense of belonging in people and make them all-encompassing in the process of restoration of peace and development”, he said. “We have enhanced the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the maintenance of law and order”, he said adding that removal of bunkers and reduction in the security forces were other important steps taken by the Government during last three years.
