    8-yr-old, elderly woman killed in separate mishaps

    Cousin’s marriage ceremony turned into a tragedy for an eight-year-old child on Saturday night, who was crushed to death by a rashly driven car in the Mayur Vihar area of East Delhi. The victim, a class 2nd student has been identified as Neeraj Joshi, whose body has been handed over to his family.

    In another incident reported from Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, a 50-year-old woman died after she mowed by a fast running Blueline bus. Police have impounded the bus and have arrested the errant driver on the charges of rash and negligent driving. In the first incident too police have arrested the car driver.

    Police said, Neeraj used to stay with his parents, Rajendra Kumar Joshi and Radha Joshi at Janta Apartments of Mayur Vihar Phase III. He was a student of Rameesh Public School. At the time of the incident he was accompanying his mother to dress for the wedding, when a speeding black color Santro hit him near the Ghazipur Police Booth.

    He was rushed to the Metro Hospital of Noida but collapsed in the wee hours of the night. The driver identified as Vinod has been arrested by the police. Vinod works as a driver with a national newspaper.

    In the second incident, a speeding Blueline bus on route no 309 (Kalyanpuri to Anand Parvat) crushed a 50 year old woman to death. The unidentified woman was crushed near the Chowk of Deshbandhu Gupta Road.

    The incident happened at 4 pm on Sunday, when the woman was crossing the road and the rear wheels of the bus crushed her head. The victim’s body has been admitted at the nearby Lady Hardinge hospital for post mortem and identification. The driver of the bus, Surender, has been arrested.
