    Diplomat underlines Ramgarh’s historicity
Renovating the World War II memorial in Ramgarh on Friday, Taiwan Ambassador Wen-chyi Ong said that the site has immense historical importance for “the people back home” and also proves that a connect exists between the people of the two countries.

Speaking to The Pioneer over phone, the Ambassador said: “The ceremony was very touching for us. It is of extreme historic importance as the soldiers from China that also comprised soldiers of Taiwanese origin who were killed fighting against Japanese on the Burma boarder in 1940. The ceremony was a remembrance of their bravery.”

A plaque written in Chinese, English and Hindi was also established acknowledging the martyrdom and making locals familiar about the place. “We would like our Indian friends to come visiting the place and learn about the supreme sacrifice of our soldiers,” added the Ambassador.
