Rahul’s winning mantra: Blame Maya for all ills
Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s winning mantra to partymen for wresting power in Uttar Pradesh is to blame Chief Minister Mayawati for all the ills.
"Accuse Mayawati for the rising prices, FDI (foreign direct investment) controversy and all other public related problems. If the sun rises from the west it is simply because of Mayawati. If the sky turns green, blame Mayawati for it. And if a storm lashes the State, hold the Bahujan Samaj Party supremo responsible for it."
This is the mantra which the Congress yuvraj asked his party candidates to keep in mind when entering the poll arena.
"You should not be defensive for the failures of the United Progressive Alliance Government. Tell the people that the BSP is responsible for all the mess," Rahul Gandhi reportedly told the party candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections when they expressed concern over the ground realities, particularly the failure of the Central Government to check prices and corruption.
"Go for aggression and axe your opponents. If they too use axe, be ready with a bigger one," Rahul said while saying that he was 80 per cent sure that the Congress would come to power in the State and if this did not happen in the coming election, it would become a reality within next two years.
The Congress general secretary gave this pep talk while interacting with party candidates announced so far, and State and district-level chiefs of the Congress here on Saturday morning. But, addressing the party workers later in the evening, Rahul said he was sure that the Congress would play the role of king maker in forming the next Government. He, however, said if the partymen worked with full devotion, no one could stop Congress from coming to power in the State.
Rahul, who came down from the dais for one-to-one chat with each of the 213 candidates, tried to boost their morale by assuring them that the party was behind them and they should leave no stone unturned to bring Congress back to power in UP after 22 years.
