‘State should strictly implement forest laws for tiger conservation’
Former Chief Conservation of Forest (CCF) Ram Prasand called upon the students and the common people to come forward for the conservation of tigers in Madhya Pradesh.
He was speaking at the national level seminar on big cat conservation organised at the auditorium of Regional Museum of Natural History on Saturday. Students of NLIU, journalists and civil servants participated and expressed their views. Member secretary of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) Rajesh Gopal was the guest of honour in the programme, while wildlife expert Abhilash Khandekar was also present on the occasion.
The aim of the seminar was to discuss the challenges of the tiger conservation in the State.
Gopal, speaking on the occasion said that State Government should strictly implement the forest laws for the conservation of tigers and other wildlife.
Various other eminent wildlife experts also expressed their views and discussed the issue of conservation with the students present on the occasion.
The experts expressed their concern over the illegal felling and corporation of forest going on in the State and said that strict actions should be taken so that the tigers could be conserved effectively.
About 150 students of NLIU were present on the occasion. The seminar was organised jointly by an Prayatna (NGO) and NLIU.
