Jats seeking OBC status threaten stir against Cong
Jats seeking Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation in Central services, on Friday practically declared a political war against the Congress, threatening to campaign against the party in Assembly elections in various States, including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
The threat could have immediate bearing in western UP where Jats dominate in around 40 constituencies and Congress, under Rahul Gandhi, has tied up with Jat leader Ajit Singh of the RLD for the Assembly polls.Talking to mediapersons here on Friday, Akhil Bharatiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS) president Yash Pal Malik said that they would start their active campaign against the Congress from Saturday in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab where the Assembly polls were likely to be held in February.
Malik said, “Public meetings would be held to campaign against the Congress party and support other party candidates in favour of Other Backward Classes reservation to Jats.”
